There are many ways that sound can help with the healing process and the variety of methods in increasing every day. Just look in such magazines as 'The Healing Path' or 'Nexus' magazines for a wide variety of methods/techniques. How do sounds work? Vibration is the key. All matter is energy and all energy vibrates at a certain rate (frequency). Rocks are very dense and they vibrate very slowly. Minerals such as healing crystals each have different vibrations. Water is less dense and its vibration is higher. All of the others in the animal and plant kingdom vibrate at different frequencies. Humans, of course, also have a typical range of vibration. Some people vibrate at a denser rate (when filled with emotions such as anger, fear, revenge, lust, greed) and others are lighter and less dense (when filled with emotions such as gratitude, compassion, forgiveness, trust, euphoria). Most of us alternate between these extremes.
Sound has increasingly been demonstrated to have an impact on physical matter, especially humans, animals and plants. This sound can be in the form of music, simple tones such as chants or sounds such as "ohm", or the vibration of energy such as the hertz of minerals, vitamins, amino acids, etc. The basic principle behind this effect is the process of entrainment or vibrational alignment. One string on a violin is being played and another violin in the same room starts vibrating at the same pitch. Some healing with musical instruments works over the phone. Listening to loud, intense rock music often makes people aggressive and belligerent. Calm, mellow New Age music usually soothes people. Singing "sacred songs" in a religious or spiritual setting uplifts the audience. Listening to the noise of the traffic and car horns in rush hour on Friday night is frequently irritating and exhausting. These are all kinds of examples of the effect of sound on our state of mind.
Sound also has an effect on our level of health. The book, Vibrational Medicine, by Richard Gerber, M.D., documents the empirical and scientific evidence from researchers around the world with many alternative healing techniques that involve vibration, such as acupuncture, homeopathy, Reiki, etc. To take the concept even farther, sound also has an effect on the frequency or vibration of a person on a spiritual path. Many of the Western and Eastern spiritual traditions have use chanting as a way to raise the practitioner's vibration or state of mind, such as Gregorian Chants, singing hymns or praying out loud together in Christian churches, chanting the name of the divine in Sanskrit, or a mantra from Zen or Transcendental Meditation. In Siddha Yoga, chanting is one of the many practices that can be used to reach enlightenment.

When an individual takes form in this life, he or she has a certain vibration that is most frequent when speaking from the heart. In Sound Wave Energy (SWE) terms, we call this the Soul's Note. Identifying this most frequent musical note in a person’s voice has several benefits. The person can become, immediately, more calm and centered; can learn more about his/her purpose in this life. By entraining with that note, after repeatedly listening to a CD, the person can begin to "vibrate" at the frequency of his/her Soul's essence. When vibrating at this frequency, it's easy to make choices that are in alignment with the Soul's higher purpose, consciously or unconsciously.
SWE Harmonists (people trained to identify a Soul Note) use a computer program developed by Sound Wave Energy ® that captures your voice and analyzes the most frequent sound when you speak from your heart, the center of the Soul. The Soul Note includes this note, and others derived from it, to help you connect more with your Higher Self/Soul.
Here are the 3 or 4 parts of a Soul Note:
Soul Note - To connect more with your Soul or to resonate at the frequency of your Soul.
Half Note - An octave lower than your Soul Note, helps you release core issues from past lives that are still stored in your cellular memory.
Double Note - An octave higher than your Soul Note, helps you bring in even higher vibrations of the "I AM" or Divine Presence aligned with your Soul.
Harmonic - Some, but not all, people have this note for supporting and nurturing you when you are up against your edges or having a difficult time.
