Are you living the life you dream of? It is said that 87% of the workforce are discontent in their jobs. As many people are discontent with their everyday lives on most levels. Most feel out of control creating stress, anxiety, fear, and overwhelm. Check any doctor?s office waiting room, as many as 97% of all complaints and illness are stress related. Stress and 'dis-ease' are caused by resisting what is and by not taking measures to align personal values, dreams and intentions with daily goals, plans and actions---our maps.
The question is not,
'What if I die tomorrow?'
It is,
'What if I live another 20 or 30 years the way I am?'
Whether you believe in taking stock of your life every January or not, there are those times when life stops us and asks us to reflect, rethink and redecide, to ask ourselves if we're going down the road that we mapped out in the past, or if it's time for a new map. What? No map? Ahhhh, there would be the problem! It's time to create one.
It's time to EVOLVE! Remember: We are not human beings having a spiritual experience we are spiritual beings having a human experience. There are rungs on the ladder of life that beckon us to come higher, to 'evolve,' not just to plod along in the same path day after day until it becomes a rut, a ditch, a grave. Your personal 'evolution' takes shape as you 1) stop, 2) turn down and off the noise of life and 3) redecide who you are and what you want.
Draw a new map!
It doesn't matter what your age, employment, income, education, appearance or background, for your New Year's Resolutions, try some 'Revolutions' and 'Evolutions'. Stand up to old habits, thoughts, beliefs and reactions that limit and distract you from the best of you. Stand up to fear and inertia. It is said that only 5% of the population even thinks about taking the first step. The following is a list of options to support that first step.
Step One: Write each of the following headings on a separate sheet of paper.
1. Mental
2. Emotional
3. Physical
4. Spiritual
5. Financial
6. Family
7. Friends
8. Social
9. Education
10. Job/Work/Career
11. Leisure/Play
Step Two: For each heading make 2 columns. Left column: write what your present experience is in this area, positive and negative. Right column: write across from each experience you've listed what you really would rather be experiencing.
Step Three: For each item on the right column, develop a plan of action and start your Evolution today! We can have it all, just not always at the same time! Some sacrifices may be necessary, like giving up being stressed, living in chaos and feeling bad about yourself! Many people resist change because they're afraid of the unknown. Unhealthy habits may be harmful and detract from your quality of life, but they're familiar, and for many that's reason enough to keep them.
Step Four: Ask for help. Have at least one person you trust to support your evolution to a better life who will not criticize or judge you. Life's short! You deserve a great life!
Have a Great New Year!
