'The Single Woman'
Opinions Differ on Just How Far Single Women Have Come
Nov. 26 - For better or for worse, The Bachelor finale that drew millions of viewers last week had America abuzz about single women in a way that only a pop culture phenomenon can. Desperate, pathetic, catty, anachronistic, typical, sympathetic, amusing, engaging - everyone who watched, and even some who didn't, had an opinion on the 25 young women who vied on national television to win the heart of bachelor Aaron Buerge.
As it turns out, reactions to the battle of the wannabe brides show how torn our society can be about the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. population - single women.
According to some cultural observers, the bachelorettes - and other, fictional single gals looking for love, like Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw, Bridget Jones and Ally McBeal - present a harmful distortion of America's 17.3 million single women.
Have women really come a long way, baby, if a guy is still the ultimate prize, these critics ask?”

America is a young nation in comparison to the rest of the world and Europe whose cultures date back many thousands of years. America is very Neptunian and Jupiterian in nature, i.e., we are the dreamers (Neptune). Neptune also rules the movie, TV and music industries our American royalty. We want bigger and better, super size it (Jupiter). America has a teenage mentality do to our young age as people, nation and culture. We are a young country, perhaps spiritually, and emotionally undeveloped. This show reflects the behavior of teenagers at play-acting out from emotional immaturity rather than Self-responsibility. Does the Bachelor show reflect the reality of single women today? Of course not, this show is a silly illusion (Neptune). Women today are working, owning property and carving out their own destinies. Women want it all: true love, success and happiness. Women today are strong and powerful holding down demanding jobs and raising children. What about true love?
I am a dreamer. I am a lover of love. I want to see people happy and married. If we had more twin flames and soul mates happily married the world would benefit from all their true love synergy. Two people can accomplish so much more together than singular. Yet, if you are not strong within Self, which is only achieved from a time of single hood, you may be just another needy creature moving from one karmic (nasty) relationship to another. I celebrate the women and men that have had the courage to follow their authentic paths and remain single. Yet, what about finding your true love, dating services, internet dating, which by the way are astronomically growing? For me, if he is the “right guy” he is my ultimate prize. Having the right partner to share your life with would only add more love and joy to Self. Hey, by the way, if you see my twin flame out there, will you tell him: “Kelley is waiting for you.”
